Immerse Yourself in the Famous Hot Springs of the Hida Region

Gero Hot Spring

About

This hot spring that lies along the Hida River has long been known throughout the land for the restorative properties of its waters, and is known alongside Kusatsu in Gunma and Arima in Hyogo as one of Japan’s Three Great Hot Springs. Several hot spring hotels and inns occupy Gero hot spring district, with 3 communal bath houses and 9 foot-baths across the area. No visit to Gero is complete without taking a dip in its “water of beauties,” named as such due to how it leaves one’s skin velvety and smooth after bathing in it. Those who choose to stay at one of Gero’s many fine lodgings can enjoy not only the superb water, but delicious gourmet cuisine as well. Should you find that you want to try bathing in a variety of hot springs (each one is different, after all!), the “Yu-meguri Tegata” hot spring pass is an excellent value, granting the holder access to the baths of any three inns from among the 20+ participating locations. The pass itself is magnificent, and yours to keep.
