About

Hamamatsu City is the birthplace of YAMAHA, KAWAI. Even to this day, the head offices of world-famous musical instruments manufacturers are located in Hamamatsu. In this city, Japan’s first piano was made.At this museum, which is Japan’ one and only public musical instruments museum, 1,200 precious musical instruments including keyboard instruments, wind instruments and string instruments from Europe as well as folk instruments from Asia and Africa are exhibited. The number of exhibits is No.1 in the Orient. Such hands-on experience as listening the sound of various musical instruments and playing the rare musical instruments. Furthermore, musicians and dancers from home and abroad are invited to give “lecture concerts” to introduce world’s musical instruments and music, mini-concerts and lectures are also available so that many music fans can visit and enjoy them.
