Experience traditional farm village life
Noto’s mountains and the sea are designated as World Agricultural Heritage. What about experiencing green tourism-experience agriculture-at farmhouses nestled among fields and mountains, which is a typical image of Japan? Shunran-no-Sato refers to a group of villages of Miyaji and Sakeo areas of Noto-cho in Noto Peninsula, and there are about 30 farmhouses used as a tourist home. While staying at these houses, you can experience the following activities: work in a rice paddy, grow vegetables, pick up edible mushrooms and wild plants, cut undergrowth in forests, thin out forests, make firewood, cook rice in an pot over firewood, boil iron -pot bath water by firewood. These traditional agricultural experiences are very popular among young Japanese, as through these hand-on experiences, they feel the blessings from nature; that means they sweat to grow and pick up the produce, and taste it served in Wajima lacquer ware.
