Gifu City Cormorant Fishing Viewing Boat Shipyard

Gifu City Cormorant Fishing Viewing Boat Shipyard

This facility is a shipyard with cormorant fishing viewing boats, which are traditional Japanese-style wooden ships. It is the only public cormorant fishing viewing boat facility in Japan which welcomes visitors into the dockyard to show them how to make these special boats. With no design blueprints available for this type of boat, only two are built each year by skilled craftsmen, who are experienced in the traditional method of boat-building.
